Perhaps one of Montreal's best kept secrets is the Contemporary Art Museum's Nocturnes-a program that aims to combine three Montreal pastimes: music, art, and socializing. The part-gallery exhibit, part-concert series is a cultural hybrid where those interested in both mediums can comingle on the first Friday of each month.

CD Review: Katy Perry- Teenage Dream

The McGill Tribune, McGill University, QC

For an album that was touted as the cementing of Katy Perry's abilities as a credible singer/songwriter, Teenage Dream sure missed the mark. It's bubblegum pop at its most extreme (read: cotton candy-scented liner notes!), and most of the lyrics are about as trite and non-poetic as those on a Britney album.

Just when you thought that Pixar couldn't perfect another timeless movie, they've done it again. Although I've always been pretty skeptical about sequels within the animated genre-need I mention Little Mermaid 2, Lion King 1.5- this third instalment of Toy Story has truly proven that sequels can rank up to par with their original.

The newest cut by the Goo Goo Dolls does a good job at maintaining the status quo: realizing what your fans like to hear and putting out music that will keep them happy.

The band's new album, Something For the Rest of Us sticks to the mold that has been made the band successful.

There was a time early in the career of folky-pop group She & Him when all anyone wanted to talk about was the involvement of front woman Zooey Deschanel. Initially, she was yet another movie star who dared to step out and be in a band. "When we were doing press a few years ago," says guitarist-producer M.

The Scarlet Ending is a six-member band right out of Syracuse. Turning the music scene upside-down since 2005, the band has gone way beyond what anyone has expected it to. "We formed this band for our high school battle of the bands," says guitarist, violinist and vocalist Kayleigh Goldsworthy. That's right, they have a violinist. They also have a cellist and a pianist to go along with the usual guitar, bass and drums. The band consists of Kayleigh, her twin sister Kaleena on vocals and keyboard, Jon Tedd on guitar and vocals, Aaron Garritillo on bass, Jess Hafner on cello and synthesizer, and Nicholas Streeter on the drums.
