Clubs provide community and leadership

SUNY Potsdam has more than 30 student clubs and organizations, representing a variety of interests and providing a venue through which students can meet new people, gain skills in a desired field and learn more about their own career interests. Ruth Policella, director of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, expressed that the importance of student groups is increased through the learning experiences involved.

LGBTA provides support for local community

As one of the most pronounced and invariably social organizations on campus, the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender Association strives to uphold three primary purposes for the group's activity: to support members of the gay community, on campus or off, to educate the campus about nationwide issues members of the gay community face and to nestle both of these important group concepts inside a healthy social construct.

Clarkson to host 'Science Café' in town

The freshmen experience: College terrors put to rest

Before I came to Potsdam I had a million questions, like so many of my fellow freshmen. What was my roommate going to be like? Were the people going to be nice? What about my professors? Were they going to be strict; were my classes going to be too hard; was I taking too many credits? What if I can't find my classes? I had all of these questions, but during my first week, all my questions were answered.

Student Success Center Spotlight on Student Support Services

Student Support Services, a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education, serves 200 eligible students throughout each year at SUNY Potsdam. Since its first semester of operation at the College in August of 1984, the mission of SSS is to provide the academic and personal support necessary to help eligible students remain in college and reach graduation.
