Congratulations, Jared Dean. You were told to put out a fire in Marshall Park, and ever since that fateful day in your life, a new fire was ignited in you to uncover and expose the vast corruption in the University Police Department. Way to go Jared. You weren't able to roast your marshmallows, and now all of University Police is to blame.
There are quite a few changes visible in the pages of our publication. This column, "The Racquette Speaks," is an example of these changes. It is a new and vital component of our editorial board. It's our, myself and the editors', only chance to state our opinion.
To the Editor: SUNY Potsdam members who care about the environment need to be aware of a big problem in their own backyard: a tens-of-millions of dollars hospital expansion proposal that does nothing but damage to principles of sustainability. Right now, the village of Potsdam is rushing to rubber-stamp a plan that will not reduce but significantly increase its carbon-footprint for years to come.
To the Racquette editor: I was approached earlier today for an interview on the subject of Dr. Lanz's reassignment. The controversy has taken the campus (or at least Crane) by storm, and I have found myself in the exact center of it all. Though this position is not one I particularly enjoy, I feel that it is necessary for me to endure it for the sake of a friend and mentor.
