On February 22nd, the third annual MADSTOP Cardboard Duct Tape Boat Race took place in the Maxcy Pool. The event featured a number of well-crafted boats, which were to be raced around the pool for the fastest time. There were a total of 12 boats in all at the pool with an excess of supporters on hand to witness the event.

The boats would be split up into three separate heats and the winners of each heat would face off in the finals to determine the champion. The top three boats of the race were the Guggenheim, the Blockhouse Beauties, and the Army ROTC boat #1. The Guggenheim ended up with the fastest time of 2:55. The Blockhouse Beauties came in close behind with a time of 3:02, and the ROTC boat finished with a time of 3:04. Needless to say, the competition this year was stiff as all three finished within 10 seconds of each other.

All who participated and all who came to support their favorite boats and crews had great times. However, the most impressive crew would have to go to the Blockhouse Beauties as they came out dressed in their own homemade duct tape dresses. Keep an eye out for next year's event if you missed it this year. It is a competition unlike any other and is suitable for all ages.
