Cities Over Seas make one last attempt at brilliance in Potsdam before parting ways

Butler described how the band communicates to achieve their inimitability: "When it comes to writing the songs every idea counts. We wouldn't be half as good as we are if everyone didn't contribute what they know. The real beautiful thing is that Doug, Craig, Matt and I are all songwriters and the way we work together is fun and sounds great."
Indubitably, Cities Over Seas has managed to create a rare and distinctive sound, which pays tribute to its influential roots while transmuting its own sound into something original.
The band reveals a lot of raw talent on their debut LP. Songs like "Sand Sculptures"-starting out in an almost meditative fashion, emerging into an electro bass line and then building epically to its peak-exposes Cities Over Seas' melodious abilities.
However, the band's fans do not only have to look into the past, for there are plans to record more songs: "We're writing a new EP and trying to play as much as possible. Doug is graduating after this semester, so we're just trying to have as much fun and play for as many people as we can before we have to move on."
Butler is aware of, and does not reject, the possibility of keeping the band going after the graduation of its members: "Well, there're a lot of reasons for us to continue making music so I think that's the plan. We're all planning on moving to different parts of the country, though, so most of our music making will probably be done over the internet, but I'm sure it will happen."
No one knows what the future holds; this semester might the last chance for the Potsdam audience to see Cities Over Seas live with its current line-up. They are playing in Hurley's the 3rd of October at 7p.m., a show you definitely don't want to miss.
