New local band, GroupThought, freely shares music

LM: How did you guys get started?
BS: Actually, we all met one another through the radio station. We're all DJs at the WAIH, and we'd always talked about getting together and jamming.
TM: We had no idea Ben was in Crane. When we initially made our connection, we decided to get together and have fun with it, and we were able to get inside each others' heads.
BS: There was a great uniformity among our playing.
LM: Why the name GroupThought?
BS: GroupThought is something that-Well, it's always so tough coming up with band names-I was looking for something that kind of encapsulated the three minds. We're all going to be working equally as writers, and creators. We wanted something that represented that in a way without being too cheesy. We thought about using GroupThink-I got the idea while buzzing through Wikipedia looking through different phrases. We actually found out two things about GroupThink-one, it's more of a negative term, and two, it's already taken as a group name anyway. Before really choosing our name we went through every avenue to find out if the name was taken-we went through MySpace Music pages, Last.fm, and Pure Volume pages just to be sure. We wanted something unique.
LM: How do you plan to distribute your music?
BS: We want to spread our music as much as possible, and we want everyone to hear it. Right now our stuff is only being released digitally, and is downloadable off our MySpace page. If you happen to have a flashdrive at one of our shows, we'll gladly transfer our files to you. The biggest reason for making our music free is because let's face it-we're all college kids, we're all strapped for money. We just want others to hear what we do.
