I have worked with Joe on many projects and his passion and dedication to this school is immeasurable. From planning commencement to environmental initiatives, to his involvement in ODK, Joe gave what ever he had to make this a better place. Joe founded the "We Care" program on campus years ago to help incoming freshmen feel more at home in Potsdam. The program paired new students with upperclassmen so that they would have a mentor. Joe was also very active within the Village of Potsdam. Mr. Sarnoff served as the Village Justice for over ten years and on other numerous committees.

Joe Sarnoff is irreplaceable. Not just as a person, but a mentor and friend. Generations of Potsdam students knew Joe, the work he did for this college for over forty years, and his dedication. While Student Government has lost an advisor; the Potsdam community has lost a brother. My sincerest condolences are with his family.

With a heavy heart,

Dear Racquette,

Joe was a great help to me when I first started my tenure as Vice President. A wealth of information, Joe was always there with the right contact information or a kind word. His passionate involvement in sustainability measures on campus always impressed me. The kind of dedication that Joe had in his endeavors both for the Sustainability Task Force and the school is very hard to come by. It's easy to get used to the fact that a person like Joe will always be there, always just an e-mail or a phone call away. However, once they're gone, the impact that the loss of such an individual has on the community is both significant and profound. Joe will be sorely missed.

He was also very involved in the local government. I'd contact local officials who knew him as well. Thanks again, Shay. Let me know if you need anything else.

Dear Racquette,

ODK and Knowles 4th Floor teamed up and went and raked leaves for a local non for profit. Joe was right there with us raking and helping out.

He had a story for everything, and could talk your ear off.

He loved to go to the range and shoot his pistol. His children were the topics of many of his stories. Recently he was proud that his daughter got a rather impressive new job.

Him and I butted heads sometimes with ways of doing things, but I know it was Joe just testing me. I am so glad I served as President of ODK under him.

He cared A LOT about the environment and making things green. He always was smiling.
