There is no other sporting event in the world that draws more of America's attention than the Super Bowl. As Super Bowl XLIV approaches, many expectations are built. The team story lines are told, every playoff moment gets over analyzed by nervous coaches and Americans take to the local grocery store to stock up on every last food morsel they can find.

This year the Indianapolis Colts will battle the New Orleans Saints in sunny Miami, Florida.

The Saints, who are taking their first ever trip to the Super Bowl, have reenergized a city that was just 4 years ago destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. After a 13-3 regular season, New Orleans wants to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Bourbon Street. With their battle cry "WHO DAT SAY DEY' GON' BEAT DEM' SAINTS," the Saints, with a high power offense led by Drew Brees, are the underdog to beat the Colts.

The Colts, led by the smartest man in the game, Peyton Manning, are capping off what seems to be a very well planned season. After taking over for legendary coach Tony Dungy, Rookie Coach Jim Caldwell has led his well-built team, injury free, to the Super Bowl. They hope to cap off a very respectable 14-2 regular season with some more bling around their fingers. The Colts hope to have the same success this year in Miami, as they did three years ago in Super Bowl XLI, in which they reigned supreme over the Chicago Bears.

Many local students favor the Colts over the Saints. Clarkson student Brandon MacMillan went as far as saying, "The Colts have that (game) on lockdown." Alyson Radford of SUNY Potsdam added "I've got my hopes on the Colts. They did it once before, they have the talent to pull it off again." Some students have different thoughts on who should win. Tyler Fox of SUNY Potsdam put it this way: "It would be nice to see the Saints win. I think it could help the city get past all the hardships that have happened. It is something that can unite the city." Others commented that they are still weeping for their teams that did not even make the playoffs.

No matter who is playing, the finger food will be out in full force. If you plan on ordering out: do so early and warn all the downtown pizza places. If you plan on eating on campus, PACES is featuring many specials in the Student Union Dining Court. The Firehouse Grill is sporting a meal deal, Super Chicken Bowls will be at a special price at the Fifth World and Tommasito's has a package that includes a pizza, a dozen wings and two large sodas for $16.75. They are also going to be showing the game on the big screen for all to watch.

The Super Bowl seems to be a bigger and better experience every year. The game, along with all the funny, famous and controversial commercials will broadcast at 6:25 p.m. Eastern Time, February 7 on CBS. Whether you are watching for the competition, the cheerleaders, or just to see The Who at halftime, the Super Bowl is always a night to remember.
