Hey there, campers. I'm a busy man, as you probably know, but I figured I'd take a few minutes out of my life to find a few new comics to tell you about. That's how much I love you. Cherish this knowledge.
Anyway, this week I wanted to tell you about Tree Lobsters. I just got turned on to this by a friend and frankly I can't believe I missed it, because it's right up my alley. It's most assuredly absurdist humor--not least because the main characters are lobsters, who apparently reside in trees--but it tends to feature biting commentary on things like life, politics, science, and religion. This strip features a decidedly pro-science bent, so if that's not your kind of thing, you might want to give it a pass.
It's basically a talking head comic, and it strongly reminds me something, but I cannot for the life of me remember what. Death to the Extremist (dtecomic.com), with a touch of early Circle Versus Square (circleversussquare.com), maybe? It's basically a talking head schtick with a lot of sarcasm, so I suppose either of those are accurate comparisons.
It is also worth noting that TL, unlike most comics, comes with bonus greeting cards--so far there have been two birthday cards, three Valentines cards, and one non-denominational holiday card that I swear I am going to print out and mail to people next year.
Basically, if you like any given strip or two, you'll probably like them all. If not, well, try me next week. You can check it out at http://treelobsters.com/
